English 4, Post 2: The best holidays

Hello everyone, today I am going to tell you about one of the most special vacations I have ever had.

In 2008 I received an invitation from my paternal grandfather to travel to Italy to meet him. I traveled alone that same year, in June. My dad gave me a photo to recognize my Nonno (who lives with his partner Romana) and a couple of magazines to liven up the trip. I remember that I made many stops; Sao Paolo, Madrid (the most boring one, six hours), Switzerland and finally I arrived in Milan.

During those vacations, which lasted a month, I visited the town where I was born, Como, and the Terruzzi optician's shop, where my uncle works, located in the same city. Most days we were in a village north of Como called San Fedele. My grandfather would take me to churches, museums and castles, as I was very interested in art as a child. I saw the Duomo, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II (where I spun on the bull for good luck ajaj), the Sforzesco Castle (of which I remember the gardens), the Basilica of St. Ambrose, the Royal Palace of Milan, and perhaps how many other places in Milan that my faint memory as a child does not recall. We took a trip to Venice, which is perhaps the most beautiful city I have ever seen in my entire life, and I fervently wish I could return and renew my memories.

In addition, we visited my grandmother in Switzerland, I remember that I hated the trip because I am not used to such narrow roads with so many curves and it was a martyrdom (I got dizzy). But I loved Switzerland. It was clean, tidy and very green. My grandmother lived in a village called Predelp in the mountains, something like Heidi's little house. It was the first time I saw marmots.

I also had the opportunity to take a day-long boat tour that went around Lake Como, and the Bernina Panoramic Train Route, which allows you to enjoy the view of the Alps and then tour St. Moritz.

I don't know if it was my best vacation, because thank God I was also able to enjoy very nice trips with my mother's family and my father, but it was very valuable for me. And I am very grateful to have lived so many nice experiences.

Thanks for reading!
