English 4, Post 7, 'Changes to my study programme'

 Hello everyone,

To contextualize a bit, my career is food engineering and there are so many things wrong with this faculty that I don't even know where to start. Let's see... The first thing is the applications to get courses. I have never understood why they are not done earlier, since every year it happens that the courses start and there are still people applying to get in.

Facultad de Ciencias Químicas y Farmacéuticas

Something I would change in the curriculum is the amount of subjects that are only taught once a year, making those who cannot take it or fail it, have to delay a whole year. I think those subjects with a high failure rate or that are very difficult should be taught in both semesters (e.g., physicochemistry and unit operations). We also have really useless subjects in the curriculum, such as mechanics and electromagnetics, which are a waste of time. And we have super-important courses that are taught "lightly" by professors who are not really committed to teaching and who have left a significant knowledge gap (which becomes more noticeable as you progress through the degree).

On the other hand, I wish there was more organization in the sense that it is very tiring to have labs, A's and controls on the same day. Or having all the exams of a semester concentrated in a single week. I think that exhaustion ends up influencing the grade more than knowledge.

I would like the faculty to have decent spaces to rest and make the waiting time more pleasant during "windows" (we only have three couches). It would be great to have a proper casino where we can have lunch on cold or rainy days, a gym and better equipped labs. In general, the infrastructure and technology of the faculty are quite old.
